Fuck Pillows

Better Hollywood entered CAmm Slamm this year, Baltimore's own homegrown 48 hour film competition, with "Fuck Pillows" our best entry to date (previous entries include: "Why did you kill me mommy?" and "Bringing Your Balls Back!") The end result was a 7-minute film starring Steve Thomas that somehow oddly resembled the work of John Waters, David Lynch, Rosemary's Baby, and British Public Broadcasting. The picture above is a glimpse of our own prop, a fuck pillow designed and tested by Better Hollywood.

The results of the CAmm Slamm were mixed. While the quality of the work was overall pretty amazing, the politics involving "Audience choice" voting really got in the way of making it anything close to fair. Thanks to the practices of one particular group who made a film about buying the CAmm Slamm vote, what resulted was one big ass bought vote, while the rest of the audience was just simply the groups who made the films. The groups who ended up really winning were actually really good : RedStarKGB and Armando Valle in particular, made some amazing films that really deserved their wins. Our friends at Pasquinade Films took home 3rd after three years of consistently funny work. It's just a shame that they had to have the "glory" taken away due to the self-glorifying shenanigans of the one particular group.

In any case, "Fuck Pillows" will be up on the site within the next week or so. I'm going to try to get a couple more things on the site because I just realized we have a lot more material that should be put up for you beautiful people.

EXPLODE!

Why not get the very best? Click here to join the Better Hollywood mailing list.

We spent today filming a new Better Hollywood experimental film tentatively titled "EXPLODE!" The film features a man named Danny Greenwald getting a thorough workout from Captain Mediocrity (in his filmic debut) until he quite literally explodes from his shirt, growing muscles and spitting up milk. It's a style we call "Abstract Retardedness" and I used only 4 rolls of Ektachrome to shoot it. The film gets sent off tommorrow and will definitely be finished by October 20th.

Ryan Graham's feature film "Livelihood" was screened for it's producers (including myself), some of the stars of the movie, and W. P. Tandy from Smile Hon You're In Baltimore fame. I have to say that the movie is quite incredible. Not to be cliche but it's kind of a "make you laugh, make you cry" kind of movie, but most of the crying will come from the laughter. The premiere is at the Creative Alliance on October 12th, and on October 13th at the Charles Theater, which you can get tickets to here.

Last but not least: Come check us out at the Creative Alliance next Sunday at 7pm for the CAmm Slamm screening. We guarantee dropping hot shit like a monkey with carpel tunnel syndrome. Bad similes aside, it shall be a ridiculous evening as always.

New Chunks!

Hello all,

Today we just recently updated our CHUNKS page with an old student film of ours depicting our favorite film professor, Mr. Tom Brandau. It's a particularly funny work, but I think in the end, we only got a B for this film, but he personally found the film divinely hilarious when in all actuality, he could of pressed charges.

ENJOY!

We're still alive........

We're still around. Let me assure you.

Getting prepared for some things, namely this year's CAmm Slamm! Fellow filmmakers, you still have a couple of days for the "20 dollars cheaper" early registration fee, so if you want to get down and dirty and enter this 48 hour video contest, click here and make the magic happen. Email our homegirl Kristen if you got questions, queries, or whatever and we'll see you there.

Nikc (which he is tired of) and I (which I'm returning after a year and a half absence) are back in school, John still works like a Turkish short-order cook, and most of are friends are really, really, really busy right now, either with work, projects, movies, plays, school, and yeah........that's about it.

A new Chunks should be up fairly soon. When Nikc has 5 given seconds of free time, he's hard at work at the Shed Temple working on the new DMFS album. No idea of when we're gonna set these white tigers free......but let's just say, "Singing about the devil is Nikc's business.......and business is good.."
